Fork Nation ("we", "us", or "our") operates forknation.net. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

Email address. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect the email address you provide. We use this solely to send you recipe updates and content from Fork Nation. We do not share, sell, or rent email addresses to third parties.

Usage data. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard server log data including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time of visit. This data is used in aggregate to understand site traffic and improve the experience. It is not linked to any personally identifiable information.

Cookies. We may use essential cookies to maintain basic site functionality. Third-party services (see below) may also set their own cookies.

2. AI-Powered Features

When you use the AI Recipe Generator or Healthy Swap tool, the text you enter is sent to the Claude API operated by Anthropic, Inc. to generate a response. We do not store these queries, associate them with your identity, or use them to build a profile of you. Please avoid entering sensitive personal information in these fields. Anthropic's own privacy policy governs the handling of data by their API.

3. Amazon Affiliate Links

Fork Nation participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you click an affiliate link and visit Amazon.com, Amazon may place cookies on your device in accordance with their privacy notice. We receive a commission on qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. We do not receive any personally identifiable information from Amazon as a result of these links.

4. How We Use Your Information

• To send newsletter emails to subscribers who have opted in
• To analyse aggregate traffic patterns and improve site content
• To operate the AI recipe and healthy swap features in real time

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data for advertising profiling.

5. Data Retention

Newsletter email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. Server log data is retained for a maximum of 90 days. AI query inputs are not stored by us beyond the duration of the request.

6. Your Rights

Newsletter subscribers can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any newsletter email.

7. Children's Privacy

Fork Nation is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
